Situation:
VSURGIC started out with a low-code platform that initially served their needs. However, as the startup evolved and security requirements expanded, the minimally viable product (MVP) they had been using no longer met their needs. The VSURGIC team sought to innovate their product by offering a more controlled, scalable, and future-proof solution for investors and customers, with the capability to quickly expand with new, innovative features.

Solution:
Kikoda assessed, supported, fixed, documented, and improved VSURGIC’s original MVP while architecting and designing a new system that would meet their needs. We then implemented the new platform in Amazon Web Services (AWS), using infrastructure as code. This new system solved the challenges the company was facing and improved upon underlying issues using best practices and industry standard tools. The new platform also includes an entirely new live video streaming solution that offers more control, scalability, and future proofing — features that are critical to the value of VSURGIC’s business.

Results:
Existing customers were migrated to the new system without issue, and time spent on support and maintenance of the system was drastically reduced. The addition of payment processing for their storefront app allowed the business to start bringing in more revenue, while the robustness, security, and compliance of the new system paved the way for getting this system inside larger and more strictly regulated hospitals. Kikoda has continued to develop new features and build out more offerings such as archived video playback and sharing.
