LabFlorida is a full-service medical laboratory that offers a complete line of diagnostic testing from basic chemistry and toxicology to high-end hormone and microbiological testing. They serve physicians, clinics, walk-in and self-pay patients, and have a full-service mobile lab for home health care and assisted living communities in Florida.
Situation:
LabFlorida was experiencing operational inefficiencies and frequent inaccuracies when capturing patient information for diagnostic testing orders. These issues stemmed from a reliance on a manual, paper-based legacy process which led to duplicated efforts and increased the likelihood of errors.
Solution:
Kikoda and LabFlorida first analyzed the specimen collection process to find pain points in handling new orders and developed solutions to address them. This analysis was then used as the building block to create a web application that improved data entry and ensured timely and accurate data.
Results:
The web application for new orders was deployed to production, eliminating the need for inefficient manual processes. The data collected through this application is now cleaner and more reliable, making it suitable for reporting and potential analytics.
